The articles frequently cite the exploits (and sometimes misadventures) of well-known persons such as Charles Lindbergh, Douglas MacArthur, lowell Thomas, and James Doolittle, as well as others of lesser fame such as 'Getaway Gertie,' Marvin 'Pee Wee' Horstman, and Doug 'Wrong Way' Corrigan. About the Author: Paul Roxin is especially suited to writing a book such as One Foot on the Ground having had a lifetime of experience with all facets of aviation - from early aircraft and the famous and not-so-famous who flew them, to training fliers during this country's volatile war years of the '40s. Along the way, Mr. Roxin has, in one form or another, gotten to know all about airfields and airports - how they developed and where, and what marvelous advances have been made in aviation from the early '20s to the present time. Fascinated by flying since the age of 7, Mr. Roxin obtained his pilot's license in 1936. He was an instructor and became involved in aircraft communications and airway traffic control for the Bureau of Air Commerce (now known as the Federal Aviation Administration) (FAA) through the '50s. During World War II, when there was a desperate need for trained pilots, he taught 'ground school' - civil air regulations, meteorology, navigation, and morse code. For the next 28 years, he was affiliated with General Electric Radio Co., a job in which he applied his knowledge of aircraft communications; today, in his eighties, he is only semi-retired, still having a hand in...

EROTIC AT IT'S BEST!!!

The Gift, by Ian Dalton. First off I accidentally stumbled across this author while looking for something to read on my Kindle, to find out that it was written by a guy threw me big time. Ian has put so much feeling in his characters that they just jump out at you and you feel that you are right there in the story itself. Desperate Thoughts-The Gift is about Victoria Wilder who looses her husband, her soul mate and best friend all at once. While she struggles to move on with her life she encounters shy college freshmen who remind her of her late husband, she is sexually re awakened and she pursues further to fulfill her sexual desires. Will she continue down the road she has chosen or will she find the man who she can find her HEA. I recommend reading this book first before reading the other books in the series so you will know how it all began. Let's just say this is not the ordinary romance story, here you will find upon reading that it contains, multiple partners, anal play, explicit language and sex with strangers,it also has a dose of humor and steamy sex.

I read all four books in the Friends With Benefits Series, written by the same author under another pen name, Luke Young. The Friends series are a little less explicit versions than the Victoria Wilde Series. I read this prequel shortly after, which focuses on Victoria Wilde, after losing her husband. Although some reviewers may recommend reading this as an introduction to the series, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it after, gaining more of a perspective on my favorite character, Victoria. This book appears to be much spicier, but in a fun way. Read the entire series...you will not be disappointed!!

Well reading this certainly explains a lot! I was in tears at the begining I was so pulled in to the story. In this prequel we get the back story to that which is Victoria. It makes sense why she is the way she is and why she did/does the things she does. I really recommend you read this to get the full picture of Victoria's character. It is well written, well paced and simply a great read!

DUPED AGAIN -- Reprint from another book!

I hate wasting my money. Too many kindle short stories seem to be rip-offs where the publisher takes each novella from an anthology and reprints it separately as a "NEW" item. That's not a bad idea, except no mention is made that the novella is a REPRINT from the anthology. URRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! Usually I am pretty savvy but I got duped again. Buyer beware ....

Quickie Adventure

I suspect if you are not a rabid Kelly Armstrong fan who has already hunted the print form of this novella from the collection Dates From Hell then there isn't much in this piece for you.

The story is fine - a typical Armstrong action/sex/action conclusion/sex conclusion plot, with a dash of humour.

Overall though nothing stand-out, just a decent supernatural jaunt.

CHAOTIC by Kelley Armstrong

CHAOTIC is a novella in Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. The short story was first published in the anthology Dates From Hell, but was released in ebook format January 2012. Chaotic features half-demon Hope Adams and werewolf Karl Marsden. The readers were first introduced to Karl in Kelley's first novel of the Otherworld series-Bitten.

Hope Adams is a half-demon, who thrives on chaos. As a journalist working for a tabloid newspaper, chaos is the perfect set-up for her powers- finding and reporting news from the world of the paranormal. But, a tabloid journalist is the perfect cover for investigating the evil side of the paranormal world. Thinking she has been sent on assignment for the Council of Interracial Beings, Hope is sent to a charity function at a local museum, waiting for a story to break.

Karl Marsden is a werewolf, whose current occupation-that of a thief-has led him to the museum function, hoping to steal a rare collection of diamonds and jewels. Karl is the epitome of the handsome rogue-well dressed, debonair and extraordinarily handsome. But an accidental encounter with a beautiful woman has left him shaken. And now, this same woman is shadowing his every move throughout the museum.

When Hope witnesses Karl's theft of the jewels, she believes it is her duty to make an arrest on behalf of the Council, but when she calls to report the theft to her `superior' at True News-Tristan Robard-she is surprised when Karl points out that the Council does not have `agents' in the field. Disgruntled and confused, Hope questions Tristan about her latest assignment, only to find out that she is holding a werewolf hostage, in a janitorial closet, waiting for the Council to apprehend the thief.

As a chaos demon, Hope thrives on other people's anxiety and fears. Embarrassed by the inherited traits, Hope sets out in search of some chaotic activity and chances upon death and fear, a feeling that someone has been murdered. When she stumbles upon a dead security guard, Karl is close behind, scenting the blood.

CHAOTIC is a quick read. First appearing in the anthology Dates From Hell, Chaotic introduces a new demon into the Council of Interracial Beings. By way of pairing Hope with Karl Marsden, the werewolves and the sorcerer Cabals will overlap in many future storylines. Karl's first appearance in Bitten is a far cry from his character in Chaotic. As a member of Jeremy Danver's pack, Karl must now abide by the laws of the pack or face expulsion or death. With Hope, there is a renewed interest in what happens to Karl, as well as what the future holds for this couple. I am a fan of Kelley Armstrong, and it saddens me that Kelley is ending her Otherworld series with her final novel Thirteen. But Kelley has promised a line of short stories, novellas and updates, so that the fans will still get a taste of the werewolves we know and love.

La Polio vuelve a azotar las calles de Newark, NJ, el joven Bucky Cantor, director del centro de verano de su barrio y encargado de impartir clases de educación física a los niños judios de la escuela ve como algunos de sus pupilos van cayendo víctimas de la epidemia, en medio del agobiante calor del verano, las especulaciones, comentarios desafortunados, recriminaciones, acusaciones y miedos decide abandonar la ciudad y reunirse con Marcia, su novia, en el campamento de verano Indian Hill para proseguir su labor pero una vez ahí los remordimientos que le invaden le impedirán disfrutar de la idílica paz campestre hasta que la epidemia empieza a cebarse de los campistas. El destino le ha jugado una mala pasada, la pesadilla personal comienza y el destino se ríe de el.
Novela intensa, bien estructurada y narrada que enmarca su historia durante la epidemia de Polio de 1944 que azotó New Jersey abordando en particular el drama personal de un hombre que la tragedia de contagiar la enfermedad lo transforma de un ser felíz, viril, lleno de seguridad y planes de futuro en un ser triste, vacio y con una gran culpabilidad dentro de su conciencia así como nos da un claro ejemplo de como la gente frente a las adversidades y obstáculos que nos pone la vida muchas veces se dejan vencer sin luchar. Una trama para reflexionar.
