Overly Complicated

The Good:
1.The characters are fully flushed out- almost too much. I found that I knew Dylan and Heaven well and the minor characters, such as Faith, Hope, Zeke- are easy to understand and it is a little too easy to determine who of them "really are".
2.The romance is sweet at some points a little too sweet. I have a few problems with it, but I will address that in the next section.
3.The setting of Cali is nice: the beaches, the celebrities: it made the story more believable as opposed to just picking the beach for the sake of the plot. I liked the descriptions of each place as well as the clarity.
4.Heaven is very likeable as a character; there is a sense of vulnerability to her that I really appreciated. She is not weak (think Bella) or overly strong because of her circumstances (think Katnis), but right in the middle. Dylan is what I would expect of a main lead in a young adult romance book- a little afraid of putting himself out there.
The Bad:
1.The writing is disconnected in this book. Hear me out: it is as though the author did not know which way to go- young adult, adult, paranormal, fiction. There are scenes that are totally young adult, most of which are revolving around Dylan and Heaven. These overly-sweet-ouch-my-teeth-hurt scenes would fit perfectly in some afterschool special about puppy love. But then a few pages later, the steam is coming off of my Kindle- literally. Do not get me wrong those scenes were nice- but I felt like what? Wait is this the same book? PICK ONE STYLE of writing and stick with it. If you are going to write young adult keep it that way- if not...yay!
2.The paranormal element was not necessary. I know this is a first book in a series, but I felt like this was just "filler". I would have liked the book a little better without it I think. While I am all for the concept she is writing about- it was as though telling the reader over and over about this connection, lost its depth for me.
3.The sisters/band mates are quite annoying. Again, the writing went one direction and then switched to another path. SO FRUSTRATING- I know people are complex and all that- but if you are going to have complex characters make them so, just don't jump in half way.
The Ugly:
I cannot stress enough the problem of the main relationship of this book. I liked Dylan and Heaven so this may not make much sense, but how they interacted for over 80% of the book screamed high school- and not in a good way. The slowness of them admitting what they are feeling, the reason they are drawn together, the final straw (so to speak) took forever. The dialogue between them is awful- except for those few "adult" moments that really saved it for me. It just did not make sense that these two are in their early 20's and this is how they act- was this part of the paranormal element (?), because I am pretty sure men in their 20's, who are crazy hot musicians would not act this way. Not even a little bit-
Overall, I will probably, eventually read book two- but I am in no rush to read it.

This will make you swoon.

Warning you may need a cold shower after reading this book.
This book is for those who love a real romance story. Your blood will pump, your heart will soar and you will shed a tear.
Dylan and Heaven were both born 21 years ago on the same day. They have been in each others dreams since they were children. They are soulmates and are deeply connected to each other, though they have never met.
All Dylan dreams of is one day finding the girl who who fills his soul and has his heart aching. Heaven cant stop thinking of the boy with the espresso colored eyes in her dreams. Imagine Dylans surprise when he walks into his best mates wedding and finds Heavan there. He knows its her, the girl from his dreams. His body burns and his heart aches just to be near her. But Heavan doesnt know its her dark eyed boy from her dreams. She quickly decides she has no interest in Dylan, the bad boy rock star. She knows how those boys are. But she cant help the feeling that there is something about him and the pull she feels towards him.
This is a wonderful paranormal romance. And Im a huge sucker for a romance. It's full of passion,love and tender moments and I was glued to reading it, wanting to know all about Dylan and Heaven's love story. There were a couple of scenes that left me feeling like I needed a cold shower. Wow Dylan is a love machine and he left me all hot and flustered many times. He also has a beautiful soul, and you cant help but love him. Heaven is equally easy to love.
I just devoured this story. There were highs and lows for Dylan and Heavan and an an amazing story behind their connection. I cant wait for book 2!! I will just eat it up!! I miss Dylan and Heaven already.
I dare you not to swoon over this
She couldn't decide which was sweeter; the way his eyes burned into her or the tiny curve at the corner of his mouth. Her eyes lingered on his lips. Yep. His mouth definitely had her heart soaring. The thought of his lips caressing her body.....
And I dare you not to get all flustered over this
His hand touched her hip, underneath her dress. It lingered there, caressing the skin beneath it. He pulled his lips from hers, planted them on the soft spot under her ear, near her jaw. Sweet sandlewood rushed through his nose. He wanted her right now, fought the urge to rip the panties from her hips and plunge into her.

An utterly wonderful read, and I feel like reading it again right now.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and can't wait for the second book in the series! The idea of soulmates meeting at birth and dreaming of each other is a novel concept and I look forward to reading more!
