Jack still burns bright

This is almost the epilogue Jack and Caroline needed and deserved. Exactly one year later from when Jack came back into Caroline's life (Dangerous Lover (Avon Red)), this short story finds them cozy in bed on Christmas Eve, and it was a very sweet and sexy scene. Just like old times, Jack, even with that perpetual h**d-on and the headboard slamming (man, did I miss him), still comes across as very sweet and ultra-protective of Caroline. There is no doubt that he'd kill any man who'd even think about hurting his wife. So while Jack is the master of his domain, LMR allows Caroline to be the hero here when a threat shows up on her doorstep, and I enjoyed that.
This novella ends on location 873, not sure how many pages that is exactly, but this story felt more complete and satisfying than the previous novella, Reckless Night: A Dangerous Passion Novella. They're probably about the same length, but for me, Hot Secrets felt more put together, and I enjoyed it a lot more. This follow-up to Dangerous Lover gave me more time with my second-favorite couple of the Dangerous series, and I was very happy to see them again. Was it perfect for me? No, but it was a nice, sexy taste of LMR, reminding me of what I love about her and the men she writes.
After the featured story, the rest of the download consists of excerpts from each of the three Dangerous novels.

GREAT short read ~~

Hot Secrets: A Dangerous Lover novella by Lisa Marie Rice is a short story follow up to Dangerous Lover, where Jack Prescott reunites with the love of his life, Caroline Lake. In this short follow, which really reads like an epilogue, we get to Jack and Caroline a year after the end of Dangerous Lover ( I loved this book ~ LMR can WRITE some heroes!! ) and Jack is still crazy protective over Caroline ~ in fact, he's made it his mission in life to teach her to defend herself in every possible way, so she'll never be a victim again.
However, on Christmas Eve, while hosting a Christmas party for some local shelter children, Caroline finds herself in a harrowing situation ~ without Jack there to help save her and the children.
For such a short novella, Lisa Maria Rice manages to convey suspense, courage, sexy tension and the unbounding love that Jack and Caroline have for one another ~ and show us how they've already grown as a couple in this short span, yet have a ways to go. You have to chuckle at Jack's rueful humor at his own perpetual hard on around Caroline ~ all in all, it's a winner!! And I'm loving these shorts between longer books, it's giving me a stay on my LMR fix!!

Worth the 99 cent price tag...

Admittedly I am not a fan of the book Dangerous Lover...in fact, it's my least favourite of the Dangerous series. However, this mini-sequel changed my mind about the characters. It's reads like an extended epilogue; the emotion and suspense shine through even in the short length.
I really enjoyed how the bookstore scene is told both from Caroline and Jack's POV. Definitely worth the $.99 Kindle price.
