Nice overview of this great series

The Wire: The untold history of television by Kathleen Olmstead is a short note about this magnificent HBO series. It gives an insightful background for the five seasons of The Wire. Attention is given to the story lines, the actors and their backgrounds, and the main actor, the city of Baltimore.
Some memorable scenes are described and analyzed: D'Angelo explaining chess, and the search through the apartment that is limited to a repetition of the F-word, over and over again.
Olmstead rightly stresses the importance of the switching perspective between 'the law' and 'the offenders' as the crucial ingredient of this great tv-series.
